A Residential School for Underprivileged Children

The under-privileged children can now look forward to a formal education up to senior secondary level in a residential school. We are given in-principle approval to a project to set up a residential school with the help of an  non-government organisation, which runs a similar school for tribal.

Officials said the chief minister also directed finance and education departments to work out other modalities before the project is brought to the cabinet for final approval. According to officials, the residential school would provide free education to more than 1,000 orphans and street-children.

The NGO will completely take over the project from the government after five years. It will run the school from funds arranged through national and international donations and contributions for next 25 years.

The government will have its nominees in the school management. The school board would decide the criterion for selecting students to 12-year residential programm.
